Welcome to the blog series that will guide you through the process of finding your own style or refining it. How you dress is a reflection of who you are and who you want to be. Your personal style deserves the consideration and plan just as much as your health and fitness goals.

Discover STEP 1: Who do you want to be?

Discover STEP 2: Befriend your body

STEP 3

Clean out your closet

Go through your closet and look at each thing. Keep ONLY the items that fit into the vision of future you, created in STEP 1. Moreover, check if these items meet the following conditions:

  • you regularly wear it

  • it is in good shape

  • it is in the right size

  • it accentuates your best body features

  • it flatters you colour-wise

  • it makes you feel fabulous, sparks up your joy and gives you confidence

Anything that doesn’t meet these conditions - give it a mental thought of “thank you for serving me well in the past", and REMOVE it from your closet.

  • Take inventory of what you have -  Look at each item that you decided to keep in a new, fresh way. Try to identify if those pieces could be improved (altered by a tailor) or worn differently. Verify if they reflect the style direction you want to pursue.

Once you have gone through everything, make a list of what you have and what’s missing to build a functional wardrobe.

  • What do you need? 40% of your wardrobe should consist of classic items that stand the test of time and never go out of style. These items are the building blocks of every outfit and it’s worth to buy them of better quality so they will be serving you for years. (wool winter coat, trench, leather jacket, blazer, trousers, little black dress, jeans, skirt, wool sweater, cardigan, white shirt, a classic handbag, classic flat shoes, black high heels, classic boots). Classic pieces should be calm and simple. You can express your personality through accent pieces and accessories. 30% are your basics. Basic clothes might seem boring and ordinary but it’s impossible to create outfits without them. Check if you are missing any basics (shirt, t-shirt, top, high neck, tights, socks, lingerie, undergarments, pj’s). The remaining 30% of your wardrobe should consist of accessories and a few trendy pieces.

Add the items you don’t have in your wardrobe to the list. This list will be your shopping compass. Stick to it and focus on collecting the items you NEED.

  • What do you want? Your clothes should be an expression of you and your individuality. Although basics and classic pieces are the foundations of your wardrobe, your personal style is the factor that makes your outfit authentic and unique. This is the space for your clothing dreams and fantasies. Don’t prioritize them but definitely express them. Be brave with pieces that make your heart beat faster!

Make a fashion wish-list and once in a while treat yourself to the shoes of your dreams!

When you go through the process of cleaning your closet, you might be surprised that it's actually much tougher than it seems. There is a lot of emotional and material value entangled in clothes. The questions you need to ask yourself are often confronting and emotionally challenging. Don’t give up. Push through this. You will be rewarded with a clean, organized wardrobe, and a clear idea of where you stand and where you want to go. But also, and maybe that’s the biggest reward - you will feel as if the weight has been lifted off your shoulders, free and ready for the fresh start. And that, my friend, is the life-changing magic of cleaning up :-)
